Teen Crashed ATV not Wearing Helmet

NY teen seriously hurt in ATV accident

RUSSIA, N.Y. — State police say a Herkimer County teen is hospitalized with head injuries after he crashed his three-wheel all-terrain vehicle.
The accident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday in the town of Russia, about 65 miles northeast of Syracuse. Police say 16-year-old Alexander Batson of the nearby town of Poland lost control of the ATV on a rural road. The three-wheeler flipped over and Batson was thrown off.
A passer-by called 911. Batson was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with head injuries and later transferred to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where he was listed in critical condition.
Police say Batson wasn't wearing a safety helmet.
