An Egg Harbor Township woman and Brigantine man have been arrested following an incident last month in which twin infant girls sustained serious injuries, one of them life threatening.
Egg Harbor Township police responded to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, on March 10 after authorities were notified by medical staff of suspicious injuries sustained by twin infant girls, reportedly 11 weeks old, who had been brought to the hospital that evening.
One infant was flown from ARMC to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for life-threatening injuries, including a traumatic head injury, fractured arm and multiple bruises and abrasions. The other infant was also transported to Cooper with moderate injuries, including multiple bruses, abrasions and an unspecified neck injury.
Police said the mother, Adriana Thomas, 23, of Egg Harbor Township, and reported father, Lamar Lisbon, 28, of Brigantine, were arrested following an investigation in which they were implicated with direct involvement in the reported incident, police said.
Neither would provide information on the circumstances of the injuries, police said.
Both were charged with two counts of second degree endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of fourth degree child neglect.
Lisbon and Thomas are lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing in lieu of $150,000 and $75,000 bail, respectively.
The Atlantic County Prosecutors Office, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services and various medical facilities were involved in the investigation.
According to the state Department of Corrections, Lisbon was convicted of theft in relation to a 2003 incident and served one year in prison. He was released in 2005.
