Road rage leads to hammer assaultPeel Regional Police are searching for a road rage suspect who allegedly struck a man with a hammer yesterday in front of the TD Bank at 1177 Central Parkway W.
At approximately 12:20 p.m., two males engaged in a verbal altercation that escalated when one of them grabbed a hammer and attacked the other man.
"They were both going for the same parking spot and got into an argument," said Cst. Thomas Ruttan. "One of them grabbed a hammer and struck the other."
Ruttan said the victim had to be taken to hospital, but has since been released.
The suspect fled and remains on the loose. Police are looking for any help the public can provide in apprehending him.
The male suspect is described as Asian, approximately 30-years-old, and approximately 5’3” tall, with a medium build.
The suspect was wearing a beige jacket, a baseball cap, sunglasses and blue jeans, and was operating a 2002-2004 silver Honda CRV. He was accompanied by a male child.
"Investigators are going to be looking at surveillance tapes from the area, but we're asking any witnesses to please come forward," said Ruttan, adding officers believe several witnesses observed the altercation and may have recorded it on cell phones.
"We'd like to speak to those individuals," said Ruttan.
