Villa Park police make arrest on 2010 carjacking incident,Victim Found With Head Injury

Ammar A. Suleiman, 20, of Chicago, was arrested by Villa Park police on April 11 in Chicago and charged with armed robbery and aggravated vehicular carjacking for an incident that happened on Dec. 2, 2010.
At 10:30 p.m. Dec. 2, 2010, Villa Park police were called to the North Park Mall, 300 W. North Ave., for a report of a vehicle theft.
Police found the victim with a head injury; he told police that three men had demanded money from him, one man was armed with a handgun and another with a pry bar. One of the suspects took the victim’s car, and the others left the scene, police said.
Villa Park police found the car as it was driving east on North Avenue, and followed it to Utley Road and Rex Boulevard in Elmhurst, where the driver jumped from the moving vehicle and ran from the area.
Police later found the driver, Amine Rahmouni, 19, of Chicago, and he was charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated fleeing and eluding.
On March 1, 2012, Villa Park police received information that identified another man involved in the December 2010 incident and arrested Suleiman, police said.
Armed robbery and aggravated vehicular carjacking are both Class X felonies and are punishable by six to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
Suleiman is being held at DuPage County Jail.
Rahmouni, who was arrested in 2010, is still being held at DuPage County Jail, pending a court trial.
